The rechargeable battery that came with our S500 camera had been slowly deteriorating over some time, but it really became evident when we tried taking pictures on our vacation at Whistler (I know that the battery performance is degraded in adverse weather conditions, but it was getting ridiculous, to the point that the low battery indicator came on after just one or two pictures, after just having been charged). Anyways, finally decided to just replace the battery. I have to admit, the 2-pack for the price of less than one OEM replacement was what initially caught my attention. The gold contact was more a subconscious motivator than real selling point (although I hope it lives up to my expectations). We charged it and dropped in and voila, new life. So far, the battery is performing admirably - I don't know if we tolerated the old battery too long, but the flash recharge and overall performance is second to none. The real test will come in three years, when the warranty expires. If the battery continues working as it has been, I'm sure it will be a fun and photo-filled three years.Back To Top |
